"Home Improvement" The Dating Game (TV Episode ) cast and crew credits, Production Design by Mitch Ackerman executive in charge of production. Some of Jim's set designs. The Dating Game The stage set for Allied Youth's version of the Dating Game, Febuary 9, Bobby Darrow was President of. But its sister show, The Dating Game also underwent quite a few changes as well . The set was a complete departure from any form of Dating Game.

So yeah, be prepared to fakeness and groaning. The set was a complete departure from any form of Dating Game. Sure there was the wall, that separated the Dater and the 3 potential dates, but instead of having the smallish set that all the other versions had, this version had quite a large set, and to be honest, it's kind of a waste. The previous versions embraced simplicity. This set, albeit nice, is quite a radical departure from what the show needs.

The rest of the show is just one big step downward. Instead of one woman or man asking 3 mysterious bachelors a bunch of questions, you know, like how the Dating Game normally works. We start by meeting the bachelorette and then we meet the 3 bachelors This completely unveils the mystery that would be known with the old show. Mainly because in the old days the three bachelors would be introduced with the bachelorette backstage in a sound proof room.

Now it's just, here they are, you know the names, let's do something. What did they do?

Well, like I said, Instead of the bachelorette asking random questions, the new producers thought that it would be brilliant to rip off Studs by having the picker see 2 "punny" statements pertaining to one of the 3 bachelors. They would pick one and then the person that fit that statement, would explain why that is true. They would go about doing this for around 5 or so statements, because almost after every one, Brad would have to make some lame joke or pun himself.

Then afterwards, I guess to appease the old school fans of the show, the bachelorette would ask one question to all 3 bachelors and they would give their answer in old school Dating Game Form. What is probably the biggest sin, at least in Dating Game lore, is they instituted a completely different format for certain weeks. This one involved more about looks and human nature rather than knowing more about the others.

Then after the game, the person would pick one based on looks and the other on personality. Afterwards, they would pick from that two. Either way you slice it, it's just not The Dating Game and many people knew that.

A match for that question was worth 5 points for the couple. The roles were reversed in the second round, where the husbands were taken off the stage and the wives were asked four questions before the husbands were brought back on stage to give their answers. The first three questions in this round were worth 10 points each, and the final question was worth 25 points; Eubanks referred to this as the "point bonus question. The couple with the highest score at the end of the second round won a prize that was "chosen just for you".

Actually, the couples had requested a certain prize and competed with other couples that had requested the same prize. Bythis practice was eliminated.

The grand prize was never a car or cash, but it could include just about anything else: In the remake, the grand prize was always a trip, this time referred to as "a fabulous second honeymoon" instead of "a grand prize chosen just for you. In the event of a tie for first place, the tied couples reveal a card showing this predicted score. The couple that had the closest guess without going over their actual total won.

If all the tied couples went over, the couple who had the closest guess won. An exact guess awarded an additional prize to the winners.

The third question saw the couples wager any or all of their money, with right answers adding the amount of the wager and wrong answers deducting it. The couple in the lead at the end of the game still won the grand prize, but any money that the other three couples won was theirs to keep. This scoring format was dropped, and the old one reinstated, when Paul Rodriguez took over as host in Decemberalthough the number of couples competing was then reduced to three.

Like with the —89 season of The New Newlywed Game, three couples competed in a series of rounds. Round 1[ edit ] Each spouse was shown a videotape of their mates who gave a statement mostly about their spouse. Then the tape played again, and a correct answer earned 10 points.

First the husbands' tapes were shown and the wives took a guess, and then it went the opposite direction. Round 2[ edit ] Kroeger asked the couples a multiple-choice question in which one half of the couples had given answers in advance, and the other must guess what they chose. Each match again earns 10 points.

First the wives predicted what their husbands said, then the process was reversed. Round 3[ edit ] In this round before the show, either the wives or the husbands gave some very weird facts about themselves.

Only the first person to raise the sign could win or lose. Seven facts were played.
